William V. Sasso is a partner at Sutts, Strosberg LLP, one of Canada's leading class proceedings and commercial litigation law firms.

He is a senior civil trial and appellate counsel, with numerous reported cases on a wide range of legal subjects.  He has particular expertise in complex commercial disputes, corporate restructurings and class proceedings.

He has appeared frequently on matters before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and has also appeared before the trial divisions of the superior courts of Quebec, Manitoba, Alberta and the Federal Court of Canada.  As appellate counsel, he has appeared before the Court of Appeal for Ontario, as well as before the appellate courts in Alberta, the Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.

He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in 1965 and LLB in 1968 from the University of Western Ontario.  He was on the Dean's List for academic excellence and was the editor of the Western Law Review, 1967-8.  He was called to the Ontario bar in 1970 and has practised as a civil litigator since his call.

He has also lectured and taught extensively during his practice.  He has taught torts as an adjunct professor at the University of Windsor Law School.  He has taught civil procedure at the Bar Admission Course of the Law Society of Upper Canada and was also a member of the teaching faculty of the Intensive Trial Advocacy programmes at Osgoode Hall Law School.

He is a current Director of the Advocates' Society.  He was a member of the Advisory Comittee on the Civil Justice Reform Advisory Committee that recommended the extensive amendments to the Rules of Civil Procedure (Ontario) that will come into force on January 1, 2010.  He is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Canadian Bar Association.  He has also written and lectured at continuing education programmes for the Law Society and others on a wide variety of subjects such as civil procedure, class proceedings, professional liability, directors' and officers' liability, corporate governance, sports and the law, gaming law, solicitor and client relations.
